The constantly changing ripples of a river's surface suggest the potential for an absorbing visual respite, a retreat. But in The River, the meditative effect is undermined by the surrounding noise of trams, cars, trucks and foot-traffic. Based on video footage shot from Nibelungenbrücke, a bridge over the Danube in Linz, Austria, The River emphasises the tension between the senses, clashing meditative video footage, intrusive ambient urban noise and reflective 'ambient' music by Natalie Grant.

By combining many ideas into a singular complex interface, the Vessel has a large range of sounds, incorporating percussion, bowing mechanisms resonant springs and electronic noise. Measuring in at over 3.5 meters in length, the hollow metallic construction of the Vessel creates a unique timbre. The large boat shaped sound chamber covered with strings and idiophones produces an acoustic resonance that is large in scale, a sound that Cooper himself equates to the vast spaces urban underground

“Echo” Echo explores the possibility of the divisibility of motion, dividing the streaming motion of the television static through the act of freezing it into a series of photos. The looped film acts as a device for a continual return of the sequence. The projection is layered with a recording of a heartbeat, amidst the micro radio wave frequencies of the universe, in which our human hearts beat.
